2017 GP1800 VS 2017 FX SVHO Top Speed Test, Who's faster Stock???

I have seen a few videos of the FX SVHO out running the new GP 1800 on top speed test stock. I'm assuming the FX SVHO is faster due to it being 2 inches longer on the Hull. Same engines and the GP 1800 is much lighter so out of the hole it should beat the FX SVHO but I keep seeing the FX SVHO catch it and pass it. Has anyone raced the stock FX SVHO against a stock GP 1800?? Why is the FX SVHO faster??

That race would depend a lot on the water conditions . Assuming both boats are setup exactly the same the GP should beat the FX on smooth water . The FX really shines in rougher water though . 12-18 chop the FX will walk away from the GP. I had both last year and i got beat up pretty bad in choppy water on the GP.

Ive heard a few people talk about some of the closed course guys having the GP setup so well that it could hang with the FX in closed course races but those are most likely custom plate, grate, prop setups . And most likely top secret

The FX is not nearly as wet of a ride as the GP if that helps you make your decision. The GP is stupid fast . Its so small with a big engine . It will wear you out .

The FX SVHO is faster because it doesn't have a speed limiter. Without the speed limiter in place on the stock GP1800 it ends up being about 5 MPH faster than the FX instead of slower.

Thanks I figured thats the reason, the FX is awesome in rough seas but the GP should be quicker on the flats I would think.

The FX is an awesome ski ! For part of a season I had a fully built turbo seadoo rxpx and the stock FX became my go to ski . Its a little wetter ride than a seadoo but with some mods you can make it ride a little higher in the water . For how big it is , its fast !

Why would yamaha put a speed limiter on the GP and not the FX. That makes no sense. same motor only difference is weight and length.

I agree, I got to ride one and after getting off my VXR it felt much heavier than my VXR and not as nimble, but the acceleration on that FX SVHO was crazy fast for its size.

They dont bother with the limiter on the FX because its pretty close to 70 stock . Yamaha I guess said F it , close enough

So if you put a Maptuner X reflash on the FX SVHO and a Maptuner X reflash on the GP 1800, with everything else stock on them, which would be faster on top speed????

nevermind I just answered my own questiom: here is a video of the FX SVHO and a GP 1800 with same Mods. The FX walks past him. this is exactly what I figured would happen.
